Serving Our Community for 38 Years
The Lions of Midrand have a proud legacy of 38 years of service work in our community.
Our members have been committed to making a difference in our community from day one!
Our Local Impact
Through our various Service Projects, we have proudly served ad made a difference in our local area in the Lions year 2025/2026:

Our Service Projects

Monthly Eye Clinic
We run a monthly eye clinic in conjunction with Lions BrightSight where we offer vision screening and professional optometry testing to support members of the community that cannot afford the traditional avenues of vision care. Through Lions BrightSight, we are able to offer services at extremely affordable rates!

Hunger Alleviation
Our Club supports numerous creches, homes and organisations with daily food parcel collection and deliveries through our generous corporate sponsor, Carlswald Lifestyle SuperSpar, Midrand. Food is distributed every day of the week, every month of the year.
This project has been running since 2012.

Diabetes Support
During our monthly eye clinics we offer free blood glucose and blood pressure testing to our community. A registered Sister is available for testing and advice on how to manage diet and lifestyle to remain healthy. Additionally, we are planning to hold a Diabetes Camp early next year for children affected by the disease.

We are extremely grateful to our private and corporate partners who enable us to offer these services to members of our community!
In addition to the above projects, we also run many other ad-hoc projects in our community:
- School and business vision screening projects where we identify individuals that require spectacles;
- Collection of used spectacle frames for the Lions BrightSight project;
- Monthly thrift store (during eye clinics) where we offer high quality used clothing at minimal pricing;
- Valentine and Christmas projects at various child welfare organisations;
- Our members assist with donated gift box & bag packing and distribution to our beneficiaries;
- Entertainment days with tea and snacks at our local retirement village;
- Support of events at various animal welfare organisations;
- Annual support of the Cancer Shavathon fundraising campaign by donating cupcakes and running shavathon booths at shopping malls;
